ST SUNLAB Launches Edge AI Video Telematics ‘ST9730’

May 23, 2025

A New Standard for Vehicle Management: AI-Powered Video Solution Enhances Safety and Efficiency

ST SUNLAB has officially launched its first AI video telematics solution, ST9730, ushering in a new era of intelligent fleet management beyond simple GPS tracking.

This all-in-one device integrates an Advanced Driver Monitoring System (DMS), Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), Live video streaming, and AI analytics—making it readily deployable across logistics, transportation, insurance, rental car operations, and construction sites.

The ST9730 was developed under the leadership of ST SUNLAB’s in-house engineering team. From the earliest planning stages, the team focused on embedding edge AI  into the device, while simultaneously optimizing for a lightweight design, power efficiency, and real-time data analysis. As a result, the device requires no additional device installation and takes up minimal space inside the vehicle—delivering both spatial efficiency and high performance.

Notably, the device features a front-facing FHD camera with a 145° field of view and an interior camera equipped with IR LEDs, enabling simultaneous monitoring of both the driver and the road. It detects drowsiness, inattentiveness, lane departure, and potential collisions as they occur, issuing voice alerts and recording critical events. Additionally, the ST9730 builds on ST SUNLAB’s extensive expertise in in-vehicle wireless communications, supporting vehicle diagnostics through OBD-II for light-duty vehicles and J1939 for heavy-duty vehicles.

Beyond Location: AI-Powered Driving Insights

Traditional fleet management systems have largely depended on GNSS-based tracking and OBD diagnostics. However, the ST9730 represents a shift by enabling predictive accident detection through real-time analysis of driver behavior and road conditions, paving the way for a new era of proactive fleet safety.

In addition, ST9730 offers seamless video transmission and over-the-air (OTA) updates via LTE Cat.4, Wi-Fi, and BLE networks. Fleet managers can monitor driver behavior through a dedicated platform, review previous events, and pinpoint specific timeframes and locations within the driving history to access relevant video footage—enabling more accurate incident analysis.

According to Berg Insight, the number of active video telematics systems installed in North America reached approximately 6.1 million units in 2024, and is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18.0%, reaching over 13.8 million units by 2029. In Europe, the installed base stood at over 1.6 million units in 2024, with expectations to rise to 3.3 million units by 2029, reflecting a CAGR of 15.2%

Seizing this momentum, the ST9730 has secured major global certifications and is now ready for deployment across North America, Europe, and Latin America.

Future Potential and Industry Applications

The ST9730 can be widely applied to driver management in logistics fleets, risk assessment in the insurance sector, safety monitoring on construction sites, operation tracking of heavy equipment, behavioral analysis in rental vehicles, accident prevention & diagnostics in fleet operations.

More than just a tracking device, ST9730 is positioned to accelerate the era of smart fleets—where vehicle data is understood, predicted, and optimized.

A company spokesperson commented,

“This product goes beyond simply following market trends — it is a strategic technology solution that addresses both vehicle safety and operational efficiency. We will continue to strengthen our global competitiveness through AI-powered mobility technologies.”
